Brown Pelican - Seeking Shelter, Stormy Bay
Brown pelicans are found on the east and western coast of North American into South America. They have up to a six foot wing span and seek out schools of fish, diving into the water. The bill can hold up to 3 gallons of water. 90% of their diet is composed of fish. This pelican is seeking shelter from the approaching storm. This was painted with digital paint with an iPad, Procreate and an Apple Pencil. The finished painting took 24 hours and 50,100 brush strokes.

Gray Squirrel - Resting, Maple Tree
Gray squirrels are agile and fast, reaching speeds up to 20 mph. They have twig and leaf-filled nests high up in trees (called dreys) which they use year round. Female Cardinal - Late Winter Rain
Female cardinals are more muted than the bright red males. They have a large range, covering the eastern half of the United States and into the Central American region. They mainly eat seeds and are non-migratory. They were once prized as pets, but that is prohibited by Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. Trumpeter Swans - Morning
Trumpeter Swans are North America’s largest waterfowl and the heaviest fliers. Their wing span is 6-10 feet. In 1930s there were only 70 left but due to conservation efforts, they have been removed from the endangered species list in states like Minnesota. Blue Jay - Out of the Gray
Blue Jays feed on seeds and acorns and have been known to hide their food. They are fairly aggressive to other birds and can be quite noisy.
